Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility in North Billerica, Massachusetts, recently achieved a deficiency-free state survey.

“This is truly a milestone for us,” said Jo Shaw, executive director. “I am so proud of my team. They are passionate about what they do, and this is a great example of what hard work and perseverance can achieve.”

To pass the state survey each year, nursing facilities must meet hundreds of criteria. These address not only nursing care and resident safety, but also patients’ rights, food services, administration and the facility’s environment. Surveyors spend several days in the building reviewing paperwork, observing resident care and interviewing residents and associates.

“I am constantly reminded of why I love my job,” said Shaw. “I have set the bar high for my team, but they continue to go above and beyond my expectations. We care deeply about our residents’ well-being and are fully-vested in achieving the highest quality of care possible.”

The survey took place Sept. 28 – Oct. 1.
